Dr. Natasha Halfkenny: Boosting Student Performance Global Competition

Dr. Natasha Halfkenny is an active presence in the Massachusetts entrepreneurial and educational communities. She draws on extensive Boston Public Schools leadership experience in her current role as CEO of Melanin Scholars, LLC. Employing trained social workers, educators and career counselors,she delivers comprehensive academic tutoring that emphasizes self-sufficiency in a variety of new market professions, vocational trades and prioritizes the importance of choosing rewarding career paths. Dr. Halfkenny’s academic mentoring helps students boost their grades in core subjects and enhances areas such as social/emotional well being, financial literacy and the arts.

Dr. Halfkenny actively seeks partnerships with local enterprises, community organizations, and higher education institutions. Her innovative progress monitoring system audits academic improvement and social-emotional development as students progress. She is author of the study, “Through the Eyes of Successful Black Males” (ProQuest Publishing), that explores how males of color make sense of their experiences in university settings, despite having to navigate institutional barriers of racism while seeking well earned and deserved success.

Dr. Halfkenny earned an honorable citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives for “Narrowing the Opportunity Gap,” which she undertook as part of the 10 Boys/10 Girls Initiative. She holds a Doctorate of Education from Northeastern University with a concentration in International Higher Education Administration.
